Hello Family and Freinds,

We did very well on our auction.
We got the big place sold and are renting our small house out to some local business owners that most of you know.  We stayed at our place (in the motor home)for a few weeks.   We had a lot of fun those last few weeks and appreciate everyone's well wishes.

Someone got in our car and refused to let us leave!!

As much as we hated to leave our family and freinds behind, we were excited to hit the road.
Our first stop was Smithville, MO where we stayed with my cousin Shane.  We were there for about a week.
His brother, Shannon lives down the road.  He raises elk.

and hunts alot

Ken decided to "relax".  While Shane was at work pouring concrete Ken mowed his yard and sprayed for weeds.

Laura decided to relax also.

This is Shane's dog Memphis.  He is only about 10 months old in this picture.

Coco and Memphis.  Memphis loved Coco.  Coco was mean to Memphis.

Chillin at Shanes

We also visited Rhonda May-  My aunt in Plattsburg.
Sorry we couldn't see everyone while we were there.
.
We headed out.   When we programmed our destination into the Garmin, it did not take us through St. Louis (Ken's preferred route) it took us through the Ozark Mountains instead.  The Ozarks are beautiful but not designed for MOTOR HOME travel pulling a JEEP!! It got a little hairy.

We spent two nights at Frog Hollow Campground in Grenada, Mississippi
Not a very good pic.  I think Ken took it through the screen.

It was a friendly privately owned campground right off the interstate.  Quiet, clean.  Good for overnight stays.  We were by a National Park so went for a drive.

Grenada Dam and lake in Grenada Mississippi
We were only 3 and a half hours from our destination.

Indian Creek Campground
Independence Louisiana:

Our freinds from Nebraska, Rick and Melody Bowman, own the campground. We haven't seen them in 7 years but we picked up right where we left off.

We met our tribe that first night and fit right in.

They only have one rule:

The first weekend there was really fun.

Cornhole:

There was a cornhole tournament and we played for the first time.
It was a blind draw. I was relieved to draw Rick because I didn't know how to play and we used to shoot darts together. Ken drew someone he didn't know.  They came in 3rd.
Of course they did!

Bingo:
Bingo is a serious sport.  It is required among our new tribe.  They will not let you opt out.  Ken played for the first time in his life and of course he won.  Of course he did because he always wins.  I won one game and it was the one where you win if you have a card that had no numbers that were called. In other words the worst card won.  I had that card.  Of course I did because I am not so lucky.  However, we won some  cash.  It was fun.  I'm sure we will play again.

Football:
All about LSU here:
The same fanaticism as Husker fans.

And of course we still follow Nebraska.

We have been busy.  We have only been here 3 weeks and this is what we have accomplished so far:

Took out the old furniture and bought new:
 Much more comfortable.

Built a deck:

Added a fire pit:

Bought a new grill and outdoor refrigerator.
He is constantly remodeling on the inside too.

It is sweltering hot here.  On October 4 I got several texts telling me that it was rainy and cold in Nebraska.  I guess it wasn't a good time to complain about the heat.  It is above normal temps, High 90's with "feels like around 100".  They say its record highs.  I believe it.

I like to sit by the pool just about everyday:

Ken doesn't know how to sit by a pool.

I hope everyone is doing well.  We miss you all,
Ken and Laura

COCO

Hi,
I am Coco.  I am a two year old Dachshund.  I like to think of myself as the Dashboard Dachshund.  If it weren't for my excellent navigational skills my people would have NEVER found their way to Louisiana.  When I am not navigating I am guarding the campsite:
Nothin' gets past me!
When I'm not on guard duty I like to chill:

I will keep you posted.... Love, Coco
